New Train Announcement: Indian Railways to launch Kota-Ujjain MEMU service from June 15
The West Central Railway has announced the start of a new MEMU train service between Kota and Ujjain from June 15, 2026. This service is an extension of the existing Kota-Chomahla MEMU and aims to provide an affordable travel option for passengers in the Hadoti region. The inauguration will take place at Chomahla station in Jhalawar via video conferencing.

What are the timings and route of the Kota-Ujjain MEMU
The train will operate daily to connect the two cities. Train number 61624 will leave Kota at 5:40 AM and reach Ujjain by 12:00 PM. For the return journey, train number 61623 will depart from Ujjain at 12:30 PM and arrive in Kota at 7:05 PM.

Member of Parliament Dushyant Singh and Anil Firozia mentioned that this extension will boost local employment and religious tourism in the border areas of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

With the introduction of this new extension, there is a change in another service. The Kota-Nagda-Kota MEMU (Train number 61616/61615) will now operate only up to Chomahla instead of continuing to Nagda.
