Jan Shatabdi Stranded: Trees Block Kotdwar-Najibabad Tracks

Commuters traveling on the Kotdwar-Najibabad rail route faced massive inconvenience on Sunday, October 11, 2026, as fallen trees brought train services to a grinding halt. The sudden obstruction caused significant delays and forced the cancellation of several services.
Jan Shatabdi Express Stranded in Forest
The disruption had a major impact on the Jan Shatabdi Express. The train, which was traveling from Kotdwar toward Delhi, found itself stranded in a forest area for several hours after trees collapsed onto the tracks, making further movement impossible.
Two Major Blockages Reported
Railway authorities confirmed that the blockage occurred at two distinct locations along the route, creating a double hurdle for train movement:
- First Obstruction: Located near railway kilometer marker 15, in the section between Kotdwar and Saneh Road railway station.
- Second Obstruction: Located in the section between Najibabad and Saneh Road station.
Passenger Services Cancelled
Due to the severity of the blockage, the railway administration had to take immediate action to manage the situation. Beyond the delay of the Jan Shatabdi Express, the passenger train service operating between Najibabad and Kotdwar was cancelled to prevent further stranded passengers.
Emergency Clearing Operations Underway
As soon as the incidents were discovered, the railway control room was notified. In response, a specialized team from the track department was dispatched from the Najibabad railway station to the affected sites. The crew is currently working on-site to clear the fallen timber and restore normal rail traffic as quickly as possible.
