Raya Koyal Railway Gate Closure: Hathras-Aligarh Traffic Diverted

The Koyal railway gate in Raya is scheduled to close starting October 23. This closure is a necessary step to facilitate the construction of a new railway underpass, a move designed to improve regional connectivity and ease transit.

Commuters traveling between Hathras and Aligarh should prepare for route changes. Following the closure, all vehicular traffic will be diverted to the Bareilly Highway to ensure continued movement while work is underway.

The construction of this underpass is part of a broader effort by regional authorities to mitigate traffic congestion at various railway crossings. By implementing underpasses, the goal is to streamline local transit in the Raya and Aligarh sectors, preventing the bottlenecks often caused by level crossings.

Major ₹56.72 Crore Road Redevelopment Project

This infrastructure development aligns with a massive redevelopment project currently underway for the road stretching from Hathras Adda to the Kalidah Marghat-Avtar Nagar-Railway Fatak route in Aligarh.

Launched in July 2026 under the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme (CM GRID), this ₹56.72 crore project is set to transform the area. The scope of the work includes the reconstruction and widening of a 3.23-kilometer stretch, featuring several modern upgrades:

  • Installation of comprehensive drainage systems.
  • Construction of new footpaths for pedestrians.
  • Implementation of modern LED street lighting.
  • Necessary utility shifting.
  • Integration of rainwater harvesting systems.

The redevelopment project is currently working toward a target completion date of April 19, 2027.
