Kusumkasa Railway Station Upgrades & New ₹4.21 Cr Bridge

The rail infrastructure in Kusumkasa is set for a massive transformation as the government prioritizes Kusumkasa Railway Station upgrades and regional connectivity. A significant ₹4.21 crore has been sanctioned specifically for the construction of a new railway bridge, addressing a long-standing demand from local residents and commuters.

This bridge project is part of a larger push to modernize the rail network in the area, ensuring smoother transit for thousands of passengers.

Major Station Modernization Project

In addition to the bridge, the Kusumkasa Railway Station is undergoing a comprehensive modernization drive with an estimated budget of ₹8 crore. This project aims to transform the station into a modern transit hub with several key improvements:

  • Construction of a second platform to manage passenger flow.
  • Installation of a new foot overbridge equipped with ramps for easy accessibility.
  • Provision of modern passenger furniture for improved comfort.
  • Expansion of platforms to accommodate 12-coach trains, reducing crowding during boarding and deboarding.

The approval of these projects follows intense advocacy from local leaders. Former Janpad member and Railway Advisory Board member Sanjay Bains led the efforts for these funds, expressing his gratitude to the railway administration. Local representatives, including Janpad Sadasya Manju Bains, Sarpanch Ved Bai Pisda, and Up Sarpanch Nitin Jain, have also welcomed the developments.

New Raoghat-Raipur Passenger Service

Commuters will soon have even more options with a new passenger service scheduled to run between Raoghat and Raipur starting October 20, 2026. This service will cover a 219-kilometer route with a highly affordable ticket fare of just ₹55.

The service will utilize the recently completed 95-kilometer Dalli Rajhara to Raoghat section, which is a vital component of the larger Dalli Rajhara-Raoghat-Jagdalpur rail line. This initiative is a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and the state government.

Vision for 2031 Connectivity

These upgrades are stepping stones toward a much larger goal: establishing a direct rail link between Bastar and the state capital, Raipur, by 2031. This follows the momentum created by the launch of the Tadoki-Raipur train service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 3, 2023.
