Lalitpur-Bina MEMU Cancelled: Major Bina Yard Remodeling

The railway administration has announced significant operational changes in the Jhansi-Bina rail section, leading to the cancellation of key passenger services. Due to extensive yard remodeling work at Bina station, commuters will face disruptions in train schedules.

MEMU Services Suspended

As part of the ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the following MEMU services have been cancelled between October 17 and October 21, 2026:

  • Train No. 64618: Lalitpur-Bina MEMU
  • Train No. 64617: Bina-Lalitpur MEMU

This cancellation affects a total of eight trips for each service. The remodeling project is a massive undertaking involving both the North Central Railway (NCR) and West Central Railway (WCR) zones.

Infrastructure Upgrades at Bina

The yard remodeling is part of a larger project to enhance capacity, which includes the construction of a third rail line between Bina and Agasod. While the third line became operational on October 15 with the transit of the Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti Express, the broader remodeling work is scheduled to continue through October 24, 2026.

Widespread Impact in Bhopal Division

The construction activities are causing ripple effects across the region. Within the Bhopal division alone, the month of October has seen the cancellation of 22 trains and the diversion of 23 others to facilitate these essential system upgrades.

Upcoming Disruptions: Jhansi-Agra and Taj Express

Passengers should also plan ahead for further changes scheduled for later in the year:

  • Jhansi to Agra Cantt: Four passenger trains will be cancelled on December 1 and 2, 2026, due to steel girder replacement on the Khari River bridge.
  • Taj Express: This service will be short-terminated at Agra Cantt from November 30 to December 2, 2026.

To avoid inconvenience, the railway administration urges all passengers to verify the latest train status, route changes, and timing adjustments via the NTES portal or by calling the Rail Madad helpline at 139 before starting their journey.
