Lalitpur Railway Station Foot-Overbridge Now Open
The wait is finally over for thousands of commuters. A new Lalitpur Railway Station foot-overbridge has been successfully completed, restoring a vital link between the station and the Nehru Nagar area.
Safety Boost for 30,000 Residents
Located directly in front of the Government Railway Police (GRP) station, this new infrastructure is designed to prioritize passenger safety. By providing a dedicated overhead path, the railway aims to significantly reduce the number of accidents caused by pedestrians attempting to cross the tracks on foot.
The impact of this project is massive, with approximately 30,000 residents from Nehru Nagar, Jugpura, and Siddhanpura expected to benefit from the improved connectivity.
Ending Years of Isolation
For the 25,000 residents of Nehru Nagar, the lack of direct access had become a major grievance. The community was effectively isolated following the COVID-19 pandemic when the original bridge—which connected Platform 1 to Platforms 2 and 3—was demolished to facilitate the construction of Platform 4.
This isolation prompted intense local advocacy. Residents submitted several memorandums to various authorities, including Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and the Union Railway Minister, demanding a solution to the accessibility crisis.
Project Completion and Implementation
The push for the bridge gained significant momentum in August 2025, led by Member of Parliament Anurag Sharma. Following his initiatives, the project was officially incorporated into the 2025-26 railway construction schedule after a site survey was conducted toward the Jhansi end of the station.
Manoj Kumar Singh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Railway Jhansi, has confirmed that the project is now complete. The new foot-overbridge is fully ready to serve the community, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing development of Lalitpur Railway Station.
