Lalru Railway Crossing Closes For Five Days For Essential Track Maintenance

Road users and commuters traveling through Mohali need to plan their journeys carefully as a vital railway crossing has been temporarily shut down for crucial repair works. The Railway Department has initiated a major infrastructure maintenance project that requires the complete closure of a busy level crossing in the region to ensure future train safety.
The railway crossing located at Level Crossing Gate No. 110 SPL in Lalru village, situated between the Lalru and Dappar railway stations in Mohali, has been closed to traffic for a five-day maintenance project. The temporary closure officially began on September 2, 2026, at 4:00 PM, and is scheduled to remain in effect until September 7, 2026, at 8:00 PM.
Reason for Track Closure
According to the Railway Department, the temporary traffic disruption is required to conduct heavy mechanical maintenance work. Railway engineering teams are utilizing a specialized BCM machine on the up line at Kilometer 217/5-7. Officials stated that this infrastructure work is vital for ensuring the continued safety and reliability of railway traffic in the region, preventing potential operational hazards and improving overall track health.
Travel Advisory for Commuters
Due to the five-day shutdown of the crossing, local traffic movement between Lalru and Dappar will experience delays. Authorities have strongly advised road users to plan their travel well in advance and utilize available alternative routes to bypass the crossing while the repair work is underway. Local traffic police and railway authorities are monitoring the situation to minimize inconvenience to the general public during this essential maintenance period.
