Residents and daily commuters in Lucknow can soon expect permanent relief from chronic traffic jams as authorities move forward with crucial infrastructure plans. The state government and North Eastern Railway have granted in-principle approval for the construction of two major railway overbridges in the city. Facilitated by Lucknow East MLA O.P. Srivastava, this massive project involves a total investment of approximately 333 crore rupees to build two-lane overpasses at the busy Mahanagar and Jugauli level crossings. The initiative aims to solve the daily gridlock faced by thousands of motorists and pedestrians. Lucknow East MLA O.P. Srivastava confirmed that the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation Limited has already prepared the architectural framework for the project, and construction is slated to commence following the release of the budget in the 2026-27 financial year.

Jugauli Crossing Overbridge Details

The Jugauli crossing railway overbridge will span 763 meters at an estimated cost of 168 crore rupees. This vital overpass will significantly improve connectivity and ease traffic flow for commuters travelling across major residential and commercial localities including Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Vishwas Khand, and Brahmpuri.

Mahanagar Crossing Overbridge Details

Concurrently, the Mahanagar crossing railway overbridge will measure 813 meters with an estimated budget of 165 crore rupees. This structure is designed to provide smooth transit and daily relief to residents commuting toward Aliganj, Kapurthala, Nishatganj, the IT Chauraha, and Gol Market. Together, both overbridges promise to transform urban mobility and reduce waiting times at these critical railway intersections.
