Lucknow Charbagh Station Redevelopment Leads to Train Diversions and Disruptions on September 14 and 15

Train operations at Lucknow Charbagh railway station will experience significant changes on September 14 and 15, 2026, due to ongoing infrastructure upgrades and the construction of a new air concourse. Passengers planning journeys to destinations like Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Tanakpur should note that a 6-hour partial block will be enforced on platform numbers 2, 3, 6, and 7. Originally planned to conclude earlier, this extended block is essential for modernizing the station facilities. In total, 58 trains will see modifications to their regular schedules, platform assignments, or terminating stations. Travelers are advised to check their train statuses ahead of time to avoid last-minute inconvenience at the station.

Key Service Modifications and Short Terminations

Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay has released details regarding specific train regulations during the two-day modernization work. Several prominent services will be cut short or redirected to neighboring stations to ensure smooth engineering operations.

  • Kanpur-Lucknow MEMU and Passenger trains (64212, 64214, 64255, and 64203) will terminate at Manak Nagar station instead of traveling up to Charbagh.
  • Banaras-Lucknow Intercity (15107 and 15108) will be short-terminated at Utratia station.
  • Jhansi-Lucknow services (64701 and 64702) will originate and terminate their journeys at Kanpur Central.
  • Shahjahanpur-Lucknow trains (54338 and 54337) will be short-terminated at Alamnagar station.
  • Major long-distance services, including the Gorakhdham Express and Bandra Express, will operate via fully diverted routes to bypass the construction zone safely.

Planning Your Journey Through Lucknow

While these development projects will temporarily inconvenience daily commuters and long-distance travelers, the upgraded Lucknow Charbagh station will ultimately deliver world-class amenities and improved passenger handling capacity once completed. Passengers are strongly encouraged to verify their revised train timings with IRCTC or railway enquiry services before heading to the station on September 14 and 15, 2026.
