Lucknow's ₹300 Cr Vande Bharat Complex Ready for Launch
The maintenance landscape for India's flagship high-speed trains is set for a massive upgrade in Uttar Pradesh. The newly constructed Vande Bharat coaching complex at Lucknow's Charbagh railway station is now fully complete and prepared for operations, marking a significant milestone for the region's rail infrastructure.
A State-of-the-Art Maintenance Hub
Built at an impressive cost of approximately ₹300 crore, this facility has been developed on the site of former goodsheds to provide dedicated care for the Vande Bharat fleet. The complex is specifically engineered to ensure that these high-speed trains maintain peak performance, safety, and punctuality.
The facility boasts several advanced technological features designed for modern rail needs, including:
- Specialized maintenance pit lines tailored specifically for Vande Bharat rakes.
- Modern electric sheds for efficient power and component management.
- Upgraded, high-capacity water supply networks.
- Comprehensive waste and water management systems to ensure environmental sustainability.
Rigorous Safety and Operational Checks
To ensure the facility meets the highest standards of excellence, several high-level inspections have been conducted recently. Hitendra Malhotra, the Railway Board Director General of Safety, visited the site to evaluate the maintenance protocols and ensure all safety measures are strictly aligned with national standards.
Prior to this, Sunil Kumar Verma, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), carried out multiple inspections to oversee the technical readiness of the site. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Samarth Gupta has officially confirmed that the infrastructure is finished and that preparations for the inaugural ceremony are currently underway.
The Countdown to Inauguration
While the infrastructure is ready for action, an official date for the grand opening has not yet been announced. Authorities are reportedly coordinating the timeline to align with other major upcoming developments. Sources indicate that the launch might coincide with broader regional events, such as upcoming elections or the unveiling of various Amrit Bharat station projects across the network.
