Sidhi Gets First Rail Link: Ashwini Vaishnaw Launches MP Projects
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and MP CM Mohan Yadav inaugurate major rail projects in Sidhi, boosting industry and tourism.

In a historic move for Madhya Pradesh, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav have officially inaugurated several major rail infrastructure projects. This expansion is set to transform the landscape of the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions by providing much-needed connectivity to previously underserved areas.
A Historic Milestone for Sidhi District
One of the most significant outcomes of this inauguration is the arrival of the railway in the Sidhi district. For the first time since independence, the district will be connected to the national rail network. This development is a key component of the much larger 541-km Lalitpur-Singrauli Railway Project.
The newly commissioned sections and services include:
- Devendranagar–Churhat Rail Service: A new service launched to enhance local movement.
- Satna–Devendranagar Section: A 53-km stretch completed at a cost of approximately ₹873 crore.
- Rewa–Churhat Section: A 65-km section involving an investment of about ₹1,070 crore.
Boosting Industry and Tourism
The new rail lines are expected to act as a massive catalyst for economic growth. Officials anticipate that the connectivity will significantly benefit cement manufacturing industries, which rely heavily on the region's abundant limestone deposits.
Beyond industrial growth, the project is poised to revitalize tourism. Improved transit will make it easier for travelers to reach vital cultural and natural landmarks, such as the Mukundpur White Tiger Safari, potentially boosting the local economy through increased visitor numbers.
Massive Railway Investment in Madhya Pradesh
During the event, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the massive scale of railway development currently underway in the state. He noted that projects totaling nearly ₹1,18,379 crore are being executed across Madhya Pradesh. This progress is supported by a record-breaking budget allocation of ₹15,188 crore for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
"This new connectivity is a major 'Diwali gift' for our local residents. It will provide critical support to students, daily commuters, and traders by improving transit to key regional hubs," said Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Dignitaries Present at the Launch
The inauguration ceremonies were attended by several prominent leaders across various locations. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla was present at the Churhat Railway Station, while State Minister Pratima Bagri attended at Nagod Railway Station. Other notable attendees included Members of Parliament Janardan Mishra, Rajesh Mishra, Ganesh Singh, and Vishnu Dutt Sharma.
