Maharajganj MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal Submits 21-Point Railway Development Proposal

Maharajganj Lok Sabha MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal has submitted a comprehensive 21-point memorandum to the General Manager of North Eastern Railway in Gorakhpur, demanding extensive rail infrastructure upgrades and better passenger train services across the Saran region. The detailed proposal focuses on expanding the railway network, modernizing major railway stations, improving passenger amenities, and launching new train services to connect important historical and commercial destinations. Here are the key highlights of the proposals submitted by the Member of Parliament:
* Demand for a new railway line connecting the birthplace of Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan in Chhapra Saran to Mahatma Gandhi's workplace Motihari via Jalalpur, Baniapur, and Bhagwanpur.
* Proposals to develop Daudpur and Shyam Kauria stations into modern model stations alongside overbridge construction at Daudpur Dumduma Dhala and Ekma Eastern Dhala.
* Introduction of MEMU, DEMU, and Namo Bharat trains between Chhapra, Siwan, Mashrakh, and Patna or Pataliputra, plus Vande Bharat and Jan Shatabdi services on the Gorakhpur-Patna route.
* Construction of new halts near former Chief Minister Mahamaya Babu village and Behrauli on the Mashrakh-Maharajganj section, along with a washing pit in Mashrakh and parking facilities at Ekma station.
Push for New Rail Lines and Station Modernization
The roadmap submitted by MP Janardan Singh Sigriwal places significant emphasis on bridging connectivity gaps in the region. The proposed new railway line linking Chhapra Saran through Jalalpur, Baniapur, and Bhagwanpur all the way to Motihari is expected to boost regional trade and pilgrimage tourism. Furthermore, transforming Daudpur and Shyam Kauria stations into model stations will drastically improve passenger handling capacities and station aesthetics.
Enhanced Train Services and Passenger Amenities
To cater to the daily commuters traveling to the state capital, the memorandum strongly advocates for MEMU, DEMU, and Namo Bharat trains connecting Chhapra, Siwan, and Mashrakh with Patna and Pataliputra. Long-distance and premium travelers will also benefit if the proposed Vande Bharat and Jan Shatabdi Express trains on the Gorakhpur-Patna route materialize. Additionally, local passenger convenience is prioritized through plans for a new parking area and ticket counter at Ekma station platform number 2, washing pit facilities in Mashrakh, and the expedited completion of the ongoing bridge construction work in Manjhi.
