Mainpuri Railway Station speeds up lift installation under Amrit Bharat Scheme

Work on the installation of lifts at Mainpuri Railway Station has accelerated following recent administrative interventions under the ongoing Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a project that was initially integrated into the redevelopment plan in 2023. As of August 24, 2026, construction activities have entered a critical phase to ensure timely delivery for passengers using the station daily.

On August 21 and August 23, 2026, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Deepak Kumar of the North Central Railway, Prayagraj Division, conducted surprise inspections of Mainpuri Junction. During these visits, the ADRM expressed dissatisfaction regarding the status of the foot overbridge and the delayed lift installation, both of which had surpassed their original deadlines. Consequently, the ADRM issued a strict directive to the contracting agency, mandating the completion of all pending work within a 15-day timeframe.

Station Superintendent H.S. Meena noted that the installation of lifts is expected to significantly improve passenger convenience, particularly for the elderly and disabled, by providing easier access to platforms. This crucial infrastructure upgrade is part of a broader redevelopment initiative that had reached approximately 60 percent completion as of September 19, 2025. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to modernize railway infrastructure by introducing new platforms, air-conditioned waiting rooms, automatic escalators, restaurant facilities, upgraded restrooms, and expanded parking areas to enhance the overall passenger experience across the network.
