Manak Kavach Safety System Live on Jhansi-Lalitpur Section
Indian Railways commissions the indigenous Manak Kavach safety system on the 90km Jhansi-Lalitpur section to prevent collisions and human error.

In a major leap for rail security, Indian Railways has successfully commissioned the indigenous Manak Kavach safety system on the 90-kilometer railway section between Jhansi and Lalitpur. This deployment, completed on Friday, October 30, 2026, is set to significantly enhance the safety standards of train operations in the region.
Advanced RFID Technology Deployed
The implementation of this Automatic Train Protection (ATP) technology involved the installation of 1,437 RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags along the track. These tags are essential for the system's functionality, providing critical, real-time data regarding train identification and precise positioning to the safety network.
The Manak Kavach system is specifically engineered to mitigate risks associated with human error. By assisting loco pilots and automatically regulating train speeds, the technology works to prevent several types of high-risk incidents, such as:
- Head-on collisions
- Rear-end collisions
- Roll-away incidents
- Standstill failures caused by human error
A Milestone for Jhansi Division
Manoj Kumar, the PRO of the Jhansi Rail Division, announced the successful commissioning, noting that this marks the third time the Manak Kavach system has been successfully deployed within the Jhansi division. The project was executed under the strategic leadership of North Central Railway General Manager Naresh Pal Singh and Divisional Railway Manager Aniruddh Kumar.
DRM Aniruddh Kumar emphasized that the integration of this technology is vital for strengthening passenger safety across the network. The successful rollout was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Jhansi Division's Project Unit and the Signal and Telecommunications Department.
