Mathura-Aligarh Rail Link: Final Location Survey Underway

Indian Railways is making significant progress toward improving regional connectivity in Uttar Pradesh. A final location survey is currently being conducted for the proposed new rail line connecting Mathura and Aligarh.
Enhancing Connectivity via Medu Junction
The project aims to provide substantial relief to thousands of daily commuters by establishing a more direct link between the two cities. The survey is being carried out via Medu Junction, utilizing the existing Mathura-Kasganj section to determine the optimal route for the new infrastructure.
Project Momentum and MP Hema Malini
The development follows a formal proposal submitted by Mathura Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, Hema Malini. Her office has confirmed that the project is gaining significant momentum as railway authorities work to expedite the planning and survey stages.
Potential Extension of Vande Bharat Express
In a related development, railway officials are also evaluating the possibility of extending the Agra-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express to Mathura. This potential extension is being considered as part of a broader effort to upgrade rail services and improve high-speed travel options within the region.
