Mathura Junction to Launch Themed Rail Coach Restaurant: A Braj Culinary Delight!
Mathura Junction is set to upgrade its passenger amenities with the introduction of a unique themed rail coach restaurant. Situated at the station's main entrance circulating area, this new dining facility is part of a strategic move by the North Central Railway (NCR) to expand non-fare revenue streams.
Significant Revenue Projections
The project is expected to be a major financial contributor to the railway. According to Ankit Gupta, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager for the Agra Division, the restaurant is projected to generate an annual revenue of approximately ₹27.21 lakh. Over the course of the five-year contract, the total revenue is anticipated to reach roughly ₹1.60 crore.
The contract for the restaurant's operation is scheduled to take effect from September 22, 2026, spanning a five-year term.
A Taste of Local Braj Delicacies
The themed restaurant will offer more than just standard meals; it will serve as a gateway to the local flavors of the region. Travelers can enjoy a variety of traditional Braj delicacies alongside standard North Indian cuisine. The menu is set to include:
- Shrikhand and Peda
- Kachori and Jalebi
- Makhan-Mishri and Kheer
- Dal-Bati
Boosting Passenger Convenience
Dr. Sanjay Kumar Gautam, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Agra Railway Division, stated that the initiative aims to enhance passenger convenience by providing quality dining options directly within the station premises.
This initiative, guided by NCR General Manager Naresh Pal Singh, focuses on improving the overall travel experience. By providing diverse and accessible culinary choices, the railway intends to save passengers time and offer a more comfortable experience for both travelers and visitors at Mathura Junction.
