Mathura Railway Station Implements SixSector Security Plan for Janmashtami 2026

Mathura Junction is fully prepared to manage the massive rush of pilgrims during the upcoming Janmashtami celebrations scheduled for September 4, 2026. Security protocols will remain in place from September 2 through September 6 to ensure smooth crowd management and passenger safety. Railway authorities have introduced a robust security grid and upgraded passenger amenities across the station premises.

Mathura Railway Station has divided its premises into six distinct security sectors operational from September 2 to September 6, 2026. The Railway Protection Force manages four sectors within Mathura Junction while the Government Railway Police oversees the remaining two zones. Authorities have deployed approximately 200 GRP personnel and 250 additional RPF staff supported by bomb disposal squads and dog squads. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to attend the city celebrations and inaugurate development projects valued at 446.09 crore rupees.

Comprehensive Security and Crowd Management

GRP Regional Officer Rajesh Dixit confirmed that duty assignments have been formally finalized based on the six-sector division. To tackle emergencies and maintain strict vigil, Quick Response Teams are also stationed at critical points. Station Director Sunil Kumar has issued strict directives to the RPF and GRP to clear congestion caused by autos, tempos, and e-rickshaws near the station entry gates to ensure unhindered passenger movement.

Enhanced Passenger Amenities

Public Relations Officer Sanjay Kumar Gautam stated that extensive arrangements are in place to handle the pilgrim influx. Key passenger facilities include enhanced station cleanliness, systematic crowd control, barricading, dedicated help desks, designated holding areas, improved lighting, and better toilet facilities. Furthermore, the railways are actively planning to operate special trains to clear the holiday rush and facilitate smooth travel for devotees visiting the city.

Supervision and Citywide Preparations

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Ankit Gupta and Divisional Railway Manager Gagan Goyal of the Agra Division are personally monitoring passenger amenities. These efforts follow a detailed facility inspection conducted by Gupta on August 20, 2026. Beyond the railway station, the wider city of Mathura is operating under high alert. Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar reported that security for the Shri Krishna Janmasthan and Shahi Idgah complex follows a strict three-level system including Red, Yellow, and Green zones as mandated by the Supreme Court. Across Mathura, over 4,000 police personnel are being deployed, backed by 129 barriers and 24 parking areas, with additional forces drawn from more than eight districts within the Agra zone to manage traffic effectively.
