Mau Railway Underpass Construction: Relief for 60 Villages
New railway underpasses at Bahadurpur and Gontha will restore connectivity for 60 villages in Mau.

The residents of Mau are set to receive major relief as the Mau railway underpass construction project moves into the planning phase. New underpasses are slated for construction at Bahadurpur and Gontha Loharpura along the Indara-Dohrighat rail route to restore essential connectivity.
This significant infrastructure development follows formal approval from the Union Railway Minister and aims to reconnect communities that have been isolated for several years. The project is expected to provide a vital lifeline for the region.
Restoring Links for 2 Lakh Residents
For more than two lakh people living across approximately 60 villages, the closure of railway gates has been a persistent logistical nightmare. These gates, which had been in operation since 1901, were permanently closed four years ago during the gauge conversion process.
The decision to build these underpasses was confirmed by AK Sharma, Minister of Urban Development and Energy, who shared official correspondence from the Union Railway Ministry regarding the initiative. The project is designed to bridge the gap created by the modern railway lines, ensuring that local movement is no longer hindered by the tracks.
Massive Travel Savings for Local Farmers
The impact of these underpasses will be felt most significantly by local farmers and daily commuters. Once completed, the new routes will provide direct access to essential hubs, including:
- Gontha Mandi
- Gur Mandi
By utilizing these underpasses, residents will effectively reduce their travel distance by 5 kilometers, saving significant time and fuel when commuting to these key market areas.
Ongoing Progress in Ghosi
While the mapping and planning for Bahadurpur and Gontha are currently in progress, the railway department has already begun physical work in other nearby areas. Officials confirmed that construction has already commenced at Baragaon in Ghosi town.
To ensure that these long-awaited projects do not face further delays, the Union Railway Minister has issued a strict directive to officials. All designated projects must be completed within the stipulated time frame to provide immediate relief to the people of Uttar Pradesh.
