Mirzapur Railway Station Gets New ₹14-Crore Overbridge
A new ₹14-crore railway overbridge is now complete at Mirzapur railway station, significantly improving passenger safety and connectivity.

The completion of a new Mirzapur railway station overbridge, constructed at a total cost of ₹14 crore, is set to transform passenger movement and safety in the region. This vital infrastructure project is part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to enhance connectivity and modernize station facilities for better commuter experiences.
A Growing Network of Infrastructure
The new overbridge is part of a series of regional initiatives aimed at upgrading the local rail network. In recent years, Mirzapur and Vindhyachal stations have seen significant improvements, including the sanctioning of escalators and foot overbridges at an estimated cost of ₹12.20 crore.
While progress continues, some local projects have faced hurdles. A separate, massive ₹63 crore overbridge at the Amghat railway crossing had its foundation stone laid in January 2024. However, reports from August 2026 indicated that the approach road for the Amghat structure encountered structural challenges following heavy monsoon rains, highlighting the ongoing need for high-quality construction in the district.
Massive National Investment in Railways
These local upgrades are supported by a significant surge in national funding. For the 2025-26 fiscal year, the national budgetary allocation for Indian Railways reached a staggering ₹2,52,200 crore. This represents an approximately eight-fold increase compared to the 2014-15 financial year.
This massive capital injection is being directed toward several critical areas to improve the nation's rail infrastructure, including:
- Construction of new railway lines
- Track doubling projects
- Development of Road Over Bridges (ROB)
- Construction of Road Under Bridges (RUB)
These nationwide efforts are focused on increasing network capacity, improving traffic flow, and ensuring enhanced safety for all passengers.
