Moradabad Division to Set Up EV Charging at 16 Stations

The Moradabad Railway Division is taking a significant step toward a greener future by announcing the installation of EV charging stations across 16 different railway stations. This strategic initiative aims to promote sustainable e-mobility and provide essential infrastructure for the growing number of electric vehicle owners.

Green Mobility Initiative in Full Swing

As part of a broader push for eco-friendly transportation, the division has identified 16 key stations to host these charging hubs. The selection process focused on stations that offer high utility, including:

  • Existing grid connectivity for seamless power supply.
  • High passenger footfall to ensure maximum usage.
  • Available parking facilities to accommodate charging vehicles.

Spotlight on Bareilly Junction

Among the selected locations, Bareilly Junction is set to receive a major upgrade. Plans have been finalized to install four dedicated charging units near the Manoranjan Sadan area. This specific project at Bareilly Junction is estimated to cost approximately ₹1 crore and is designed to provide simultaneous charging capacity for four electric vehicles.

A Win-Win Model for Railways and Private Players

The project follows a highly efficient model where private operators will manage the heavy lifting. These operators will be responsible for the investment, installation, and ongoing maintenance of the stations. This allows the Indian Railways to benefit from generated license fee revenue without the burden of direct operational costs.

Boosting Local Employment

Beyond the environmental benefits, the project is expected to create significant local economic opportunities. Each of the 16 stations is projected to provide employment for five to seven individuals, supporting livelihoods in the communities surrounding these railway hubs.
