Motagaon-Mankoli Four-Lane Railway Flyover Gets Official Approval
The Standing Committee has approved a four-lane railway flyover between Motagaon and Mankoli to ease Dombivli traffic and improve Thane connectivity.

Commuters in Dombivli are set for a major relief as the Standing Committee has officially approved the construction of the Motagaon Mankoli railway flyover. This crucial infrastructure project is designed to link the east and west sectors of the city, significantly reducing local congestion.
The new four-lane structure will also facilitate a much more efficient transit route toward Thane by connecting seamlessly with the existing Mankoli flyover.
Ending a 19-Year Wait
This approval marks the end of a long-standing struggle for local residents. The project was first conceptualized in 2007 by the then-Mayor, Pundlik Mhatre, but has faced extensive delays spanning nearly two decades.
While the project was originally envisioned as a single-lane bridge with an estimated budget of ₹23 crore, the scope has been significantly upgraded. To address the massive projected traffic demands of the future, authorities have revised the plan to a much larger four-lane structure.
Driving Connectivity and Growth
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) will be the primary civic body responsible for the planning and execution of this bridge. Local leader and former corporator Dipesh Mhatre highlighted that the approval is a major milestone, representing years of advocacy by the community.
Rehabilitation and Support for Residents
As the project moves forward, the authorities have addressed the social impact of the construction. A comprehensive compensation and rehabilitation plan has been outlined for approximately 600 families and individuals who will be affected by the development. This ensures that all displaced residents receive adequate support during the transition.
