MP Ujjwal Raman Singh Urges North Central Railway to Pave Meja Culvert Access

Member of Parliament Ujjwal Raman Singh has formally requested the Divisional Railway Manager of the North Central Railway to upgrade and pave Railway Culvert Number 4, located in Samhan village, Meja, Prayagraj. This initiative comes after a meeting on August 29, 2026, where residents from Samhan and Kathouli villages highlighted the critical state of the path leading to the underpass. For decades, this culvert has served as the sole transit point for residents of Samhan and Kathouli. Villagers informed the MP that the current unpaved access route is rugged and difficult to navigate. During the monsoon season, the condition of the path deteriorates significantly as pits fill with water, effectively cutting off connectivity for the local population.

Significance of Culvert Number 4

While the railway department originally constructed Culvert Number 4 for drainage purposes, it currently functions as the primary thoroughfare for a local population exceeding 5,000 in Kathouli alone. Despite this heavy reliance, the railway administration has not yet provided a permanent, paved approach road. MP Ujjwal Raman Singh, who had previously written to the Divisional Railway Manager regarding this issue, continues to advocate for the necessary infrastructure improvements. These upgrades are vital to resolve the ongoing transportation challenges faced by the villagers residing along the busy Delhi-Howrah rail route.
