As of April 24, 2026, the project has reached 59.1% physical progress. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has completed 439 km of piers and 347 km of viaduct. Additionally, 17 river bridges and 13 steel bridges are now complete. All 1389.5 hectares of required land have been acquired and all statutory clearances are in place.

When will the Bullet Train start running?

The first section of the corridor in Gujarat is expected to open in 2026. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that an inaugural 100-km run between Surat and Vapi will happen by August 2027. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis mentioned that the entire project could be completed by the end of 2028.
