Railway safety boost: Barricading work begins on Muzaffarpur tracks to prevent accidents

The Rail Administration has started the installation of barricades on both sides of the railway tracks in Muzaffarpur. This project aims to reduce accidents involving humans and cattle and stop criminal activities near the tracks. The work is being carried out by new contractors after the previous one failed to meet the requirements.
Where is the barricading work happening?
The safety work is being implemented in two main sections during the first phase. The first part covers the stretch from Muzaffarpur Junction to Narayanpur. The second part is being built on the Muzaffarpur-Hajipur section, specifically from the Majhaulia railway crossing at the Sonpur division border to Ramdayalu station.
How will this project benefit passengers and locals?
Rail officials stated that these barricades will prevent people and livestock from directly entering the tracks, which will lower the number of Cattle Run Over (CRO) and Man Run Over (MRO) incidents. Additionally, the administration believes this move will curb crimes such as stone-pelting on Vande Bharat and other trains, as well as mobile snatching and theft.
What is the background of this project?
The process for this work started back in February when a tender was issued. However, the initial contractor did not perform the work, leading the railway authorities to seize their security money. Following this, new contractors were appointed to ensure the safety project is completed without further delay.
