Indian Railways regularizes Mysuru Ajmer Express as a permanent weekly service
Indian Railways has officially transitioned the Mysuru-Ajmer Express from a special train to a permanent weekly express operation, significantly enhancing connectivity between Karnataka and Rajasthan. This move aims to provide a more stable and reliable travel option for passengers traveling across five different states.
Key Highlights:
• Train No. 16281 will run from Mysuru to Ajmer weekly.
• Train No. 16282 will run from Ajmer to Mysuru weekly.
• Regular services commence from Mysuru on September 5, 2026.
• The route covers Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
Route and Schedule
Minister of State for Railways V Somanna and North Western Railway's CPRO Amit Sudarshan have confirmed the decision. The Mysuru-Ajmer Weekly Express (16281) will depart from Mysuru on Saturday at 8:00 AM and reach Ajmer on the third day at 4:35 AM. The return journey, Ajmer-Mysuru Weekly Express (16282), will start from Ajmer on Monday at 6:50 PM and arrive in Mysuru at 7:00 PM on the third day.
Stoppages and Connectivity
The train service provides extensive connectivity with a total of 33 scheduled stoppages. Key transit points include Bhilwara, as well as major hubs such as Hassan, Arsikere, Davangere, Gadag, Hubballi, Hubballi, Dharwad, and Belagavi. This regularization ensures that passengers from these regions can now rely on a permanent weekly schedule for long-distance travel between the South and North-West of India.
