Nanda Devi AC Superfast Express resumes regular operations and gets new halt

The Nanda Devi AC Superfast Express, operating as train numbers 12401 and 12402, has successfully resumed its regular route between Kota Junction and Dehradun. This normalization of services follows the temporary postponement of planned upgrade work in the Ghaziabad yard. Indian Railways will announce new dates for the infrastructure work at a later time. The fully air-conditioned train covers a distance of approximately 734 to 763 kilometers and completes its journey in roughly 12 hours.
Timings and Schedule
For travellers planning their journeys, train 12401 departs Kota Junction daily at 17:50 and reaches Dehradun at 05:50 the following day. The service provides a vital and reliable overnight connection for passengers travelling between Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.
New Station Halt at Deoband
In addition to the resumption of regular operations, a new experimental two-minute halt was introduced for the train at Deoband Railway Station, effective September 10, 2026. Under this updated schedule, train 12401 arrives at Deoband at 1:45 AM and departs at 1:47 AM. According to Deoband Station Superintendent Anil Kumar, the stop serves to address long-standing local demand from commuters and residents in the area.
The decision to add the halt was formalized through administrative orders from the Railway Board. This followed representations made to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw by regional MLA and Minister of State Kunwar Brijesh Singh. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mahesh Yadav and Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay officially confirmed the implementation of the new halt, ensuring smooth execution for passengers boarding and deboarding at Deoband.
