The North Central Railway (NCR) has announced the operation of two pairs of special festival trains to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming festive season. These services are designed to accommodate travelers during the peak periods of Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.

Managing the Festive Rush

According to Dr. Shivam Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the North Central Railway, these arrangements were finalized in coordination with the Central Railway. The initiative aims to facilitate smoother travel for passengers heading towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during the holidays.

Details of the Special Services

The special service plan includes two distinct types of train operations to help alleviate congestion:

  • Daily Service: One daily special train will operate on the Danapur route.
  • Weekly Service: One weekly special train connecting Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) to Samastipur.

LTT to Samastipur Weekly Train Schedule

The weekly service, designated as train number 01043/01044, is specifically scheduled to assist commuters traveling from Maharashtra to Bihar. Here are the key details for this service:

  • Frequency: The train will operate every Tuesday.
  • Service Period: From October 13 to November 17, 2026.
  • Departure: Departing from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at 12:15 PM.
  • Major Stops: The route includes Prayagraj Chheoki and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction.

Dr. Sharma stated that the introduction of these special trains is intended to reduce passenger congestion and ensure better availability of confirmed tickets for those traveling during this high-demand festive period.
