The newly constructed and electrified broad-gauge rail line connecting Nepalganj Road, Nanpara, and Bahraich was officially inaugurated on August 31, 2026, marking a major milestone for regional mobility. This vital infrastructure project is designed to transform travel experiences for residents and boost cross-border connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions. Here are the key details of the newly launched rail section. The inauguration ceremony took place at 1:30 PM with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw joining virtually from New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attending physically at Nepalganj Road Railway Station alongside Bahraich MP Dr. Anand Gond. Managed by the Ministry of Railways and the North Eastern Railway, the project directly benefits passengers across border areas including Nepalganj Road, Babaganj, Nanpara, Matera, Risia, and Bahraich. Following the launch, special train 05064 departed from Nepalganj Road to Varanasi City at 2:45 PM with a 17-coach formation. Regular commercial train services officially commenced on September 1, 2026.

Train Schedule and Operations

The new rail network features comprehensive connectivity options to make daily commuting and long-distance travel smoother. Initial operations comprise two express trains and two passenger or MEMU services managed by the North Eastern Railway Lucknow Division. Key services include the 14214/14213 Nepalganj Road-Varanasi Intercity Express, departing Nepalganj Road at 4:00 AM and arriving in Varanasi at 1:35 PM, with the return journey leaving Varanasi at 2:00 PM and reaching Nepalganj Road at 11:00 PM. Additionally, passengers can utilize the 15131/15132 Nepalganj Road-Varanasi City Express services. For local commuters, two MEMU and passenger train services, numbered 75109/75110 and 75111/75112, will operate between Gonda and Nepalganj Road, effectively bridging gaps in regional transit and offering seamless connections to major commercial hubs like Varanasi.
