North Eastern Railway introduces modern Phaco machine for cataract surgery at Varanasi Division Hospital
North Eastern Railway has taken a significant step toward enhancing healthcare services for its employees and their families. la Varanasi Division Hospital has been equipped with a modern Phacoemulsification system and advanced operation theater lights, providing high-quality eye care services specifically benefiting rail employees in the Siwan, Thawe, and Gopalganj regions.
The new equipment was inaugurated by Division Railway Manager (DRM) Ashish Jain, along with Nursing Superintendent Nelly Minj and Mary Rajan George. The event was witnessed by Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. R.J. Choudhury, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Neeraj Kumar, and ophthalmologist Dr. Madhusudan Vishwakarma.
Advanced Technology for Cataract Surgery
The hospital has installed the Ortly Cataract Three EG Phacoemulsification System, a compact and modern machine used primarily for cataract surgeries. The key features of this equipment include:
- EasyPhaco technology, which allows surgeons to better control lens fragments during the procedure.
- Precise fluid control to maintain stability inside the eye during surgery.
- Small incision surgery, which ensures faster recovery and minimal trauma to the eye.
- Capability to perform IACI and anterior vitrectomy procedures in addition to standard phaco surgery.
- A portable and compact design for efficient space utilization in the operation theater.
Improved Surgical Environment
Along with the machine, new operation theater lights have been upgraded to ensure optimal lighting and clarity for surgeons. This enhancement ensures that doctors can clearly see the surgical field, reducing risks and risks associated with with poor lighting.
Rail employees from Siwan, Thawe, and Gopalganj will no longer need to travel to larger medical centers for specialized eye treatments, as these facilities are now available locally. DRM Ashish Jain emphasized that providing quality and modern health facilities to railway staff and their family members remains a top priority for the divisional own administration.
