New Bareilly Junction Planned in ₹14,926 Cr Mega Project

Indian Railways is preparing for a massive infrastructure overhaul with the planned construction of a New Bareilly Junction. This strategic move is part of a colossal ₹14,926 crore expansion project designed to ease the heavy traffic on the critical Ghaziabad-Sitapur corridor.
Decongesting the Ghaziabad-Sitapur Corridor
The current rail infrastructure is under immense pressure, with capacity utilization rates on the existing double-line section reaching a staggering 168%. To resolve this bottleneck, the project proposes the development of third and fourth railway lines. These new tracks are intended to bypass several congested stations, including the existing Bareilly Junction, Cantt Station, and C.B. Ganj.
