New Delhi-Aligarh EMU Extension for Diwali Travel

To manage the massive surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming Diwali festive season, Indian Railways has announced a strategic temporary extension of the New Delhi-Ghaziabad EMU service. From November 5 to November 14, 2026, this service will be extended to Aligarh Junction, providing much-needed connectivity between the National Capital Region and Aligarh.
Detailed Train Schedule and Timings
The operational change affects two specific train services to ensure smoother travel for commuters. Passengers can look out for the following schedule:
- Train Number 64426: This service will depart from New Delhi at 9:55 AM and is scheduled to arrive at Aligarh at 1:00 PM. During this festive period, this train will complete a total of 10 trips.
- Train Number 64429: For the return journey, this train will depart from Aligarh at 1:30 PM.
Enhanced Connectivity for Smaller Towns
The extension is not just about reaching Aligarh; it significantly improves accessibility for passengers in the surrounding rural and semi-urban areas. By extending the route beyond Ghaziabad, the EMU service will now include 15 additional stops. This move is expected to benefit travelers in several key intermediate locations, including:
- Dadri
- Dankaur
- Khurja
- Somna
Relief for Festive Travelers
Railway officials have emphasized that this temporary arrangement is specifically designed to assist daily commuters, working professionals, and holiday travelers. As millions of people travel to visit friends and family during Diwali, this extension aims to ease the seasonal demand and reduce the pressure on other long-distance trains.
