To ease the heavy passenger rush during the upcoming festive season, Northern Railway has announced New Delhi Gorakhpur Special Trains specifically for the Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations in 2026.
This initiative is part of a massive nationwide effort by the Indian Railways to operate over 6,200 special festival trips, ensuring that commuters can travel home safely and comfortably during these major holidays.
Detailed Schedule of Special Trains
The railway authorities have introduced two specific services to cater to the high travel demand between the national capital and Gorakhpur. The operational details are as follows:
- Train Number 04022 (New Delhi to Gorakhpur): This service will depart from New Delhi at 2:30 PM on November 6 and November 13. It is scheduled to arrive in Gorakhpur at 4:10 AM the following morning.
- Train Number 04021 (Gorakhpur to New Delhi): The return journey will depart from Gorakhpur at 7:00 AM on November 7 and November 14, reaching New Delhi at 11:10 PM on the same day.

These special trains will provide connectivity to several important stations along the route, making them highly convenient for passengers traveling through Uttar Pradesh. The scheduled halts include:
