New Delhi-Katra Special Trains Announced for Navratri Rush
Northern Railway has introduced New Delhi Katra Special Trains to manage the heavy surge of pilgrims expected during the upcoming Navratri festival. The special service aims to provide seamless connectivity for devotees traveling to the holy shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
Daily Service Details for Devotees
The newly announced service, operating under train numbers 04081 and 04082, will run on a daily basis between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This festive arrangement is scheduled to operate from October 12 to October 26, 2026, providing a total of 14 additional trips in each direction.
According to Northern Railway spokesperson Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, this initiative is specifically designed to offer a comfortable and convenient travel experience for pilgrims commuting from various regions, including Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and neighboring areas.
A Pattern of Festive Support
This decision follows a series of special train operations managed by the railway to handle seasonal rushes. Earlier in September 2026, three pairs of festival special trains were scheduled to manage the Dussehra crowd. Specifically, train 04081 operated between October 8 and 11, while 04082 ran from October 9 to 12.
Furthermore, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway had previously implemented a similar measure in March 2026, running 14 special trips each to accommodate the high demand during the Chaitra Navratri period.
