Indian Railways plans New Delhi Mizoram Rajdhani Express route via Gorakhpur

Indian Railways is working on a major plan to launch a new train service connecting New Delhi to Mizoram with the route passing through Gorakhpur. This new initiative aims to establish direct rail connectivity between Mizoram and the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the convenience of passengers. Railway Board directives have triggered accelerated preparations within the North Eastern Railway where officials have drafted a comprehensive proposal detailing the route designated stoppages and the official time schedule.

This upcoming service is being highlighted as the first Rajdhani Express to utilize the Gorakhpur route for connection to the northeastern state. While a Rajdhani Express service connecting Sairang in Mizoram to Delhi Anand Vihar Terminal was previously inaugurated on September 13 2025 which also included a stop at Gorakhpur Junction authorities are currently refining operational plans for this additional capacity.
