How will the new entry system work?
The railway has started installing turnstile gates, similar to those used in Metro stations. A pilot project began on April 23, 2026, at Platform Number 9 near Ajmeri Gate. RPF and commercial department staff are stationed at the gates to manage queues and check tickets before allowing entry.
Why is this change being implemented?
The need for these strict measures came after a stampede occurred at the station in February 2025. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reviewed the situation on March 20, 2026, and ordered AI-based improvements. The goal is to create a safe environment and avoid overcrowding, especially during festivals like Diwali and Chhath.
