Indian Railways is running special superfast express trains between New Delhi and Subedarganj to clear extra passenger rush during the Janmashtami festival and the upcoming long weekend. These special services will operate from September 3 to September 6, 2026, according to Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay. Passengers can book tickets in advance as these are reserved superfast special express trains designed to provide comfortable travel during the festive period. Here are the key details of the train operations:

  • Train 02416 departs New Delhi at 11:00 PM on September 3, 4, and 5 and reaches Subedarganj at 9:45 AM the next day.
  • Train 02415 departs Subedarganj at 12:10 PM on September 4, 5, and 6 and reaches New Delhi at 11:30 PM the same day.
  • Both trains complete three trips in each direction with a total composition of 18 coaches.
  • Additional special trains are also operating from Delhi to Mathura, Reengus, and Varanasi to manage the holiday rush.

Train Schedule and Stoppages

The special trains are meticulously scheduled to give maximum convenience to travellers heading home for the festivities. Both train numbers 02416 and 02415 will halt at Ghaziabad, Aligarh Junction, Tundla Junction, Etawah Junction, Govindpuri, and Fatehpur in both directions. Commuters travelling along the busy New Delhi-Subedarganj route can easily board or deboard at these major stations.

Coach Composition and Additional Routes

To accommodate diverse travel budgets and passenger preferences, each trainset is configured with 18 coaches. This includes one air-conditioned second-class coach, three air-conditioned third-class coaches, seven sleeper class coaches, five general category coaches, and two SLR coaches. Railway authorities have also confirmed that alongside this route, special holiday trains will run from Delhi to Mathura, Reengus, and Varanasi during the identical timeframe. Passengers are advised to check current seat availability and book tickets early through the IRCTC portal or official mobile app to ensure a smooth journey.
