Indian Railways is gearing up to transform the travel experience on one of the nation's most vital corridors. Plans are underway to introduce a second Sleeper Vande Bharat Express service connecting New Delhi and Varanasi, specifically designed to bring a new level of comfort and speed to long-distance passengers.
Connecting Major Hubs with High-Speed Efficiency
The proposed route is set to provide seamless connectivity between New Delhi, Kanpur, Prayagraj, and Varanasi. As part of a broader Ministry of Railways initiative to modernize long-haul services, this train is expected to cruise at speeds ranging from 130 kmph to 160 kmph, depending on the track conditions.
While the Railway Board is yet to release official confirmation regarding the specific timetable, fare structure, and exact launch date, a tentative schedule has emerged to optimize travel time:
- From Varanasi Cantt: A 9:20 PM departure is proposed, reaching Prayagraj at approximately 10:45 PM, Kanpur Central at 12:35 AM, and finally arriving in New Delhi at 5:00 AM.
- From New Delhi: A 9:20 PM departure is planned, with an arrival in Varanasi at 5:00 AM.
This schedule aims to complete the journey in a swift 7 hours and 40 minutes to 8 hours.
