4 New Superfast Trains for Diwali and Chhath Puja Rush
Indian Railways launches 4 new superfast trains between Ahmedabad, Rajgir, Ludhiana, and Lucknow to manage Diwali and Chhath Puja festive rush.

Indian Railways is gearing up for the massive festive season by announcing four new special superfast trains. These services are specifically designed to manage the heavy passenger surge expected during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations, particularly for those traveling from industrial hubs back to their hometowns.
Connecting Gujarat to Bihar and UP
To assist commuters traveling from western India, two special superfast trains will operate from Ahmedabad to Rajgir. These services will travel via Agra, providing a vital link for passengers moving from Gujarat toward Bihar.
Ludhiana to Lucknow Special Services
In a significant move to support travelers in the north, two pairs of special trains will run between Ludhiana in Punjab and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. These services aim to alleviate the heavy congestion faced by passengers traveling between these two key states during the holiday period.
Managing the Festive Holiday Rush
The introduction of these new services is part of a massive nationwide effort by Indian Railways to tackle holiday-related congestion. The railway department has scheduled over 6,200 special train trips this year to improve ticket availability and ensure smoother travel for millions of passengers. These new additions complement an existing network of festive special services, including routes such as:
- Ludhiana to Saharsa
- Ludhiana to Purnia
- Ludhiana to Kolkata
To ensure a hassle-free journey, railway officials have advised all passengers to verify the latest schedules and seat availability through the official IRCTC website or mobile application before planning their festive travel.
