New Year 2027 Travel: Train Booking Opens Nov 2
Plan your New Year 2027 travel! Indian Railways opens booking for January 1 journeys on November 2, 2026, via IRCTC.
If you are planning your New Year train booking for the start of 2027, mark your calendars immediately. Indian Railways has confirmed that the advance reservation period for travel scheduled on January 1, 2027, will officially open on November 2, 2026.
How to Secure Your Tickets
To avoid the holiday rush and ensure seat availability, travelers should access the IRCTC portal or authorized booking counters starting at 8:00 AM IST on November 2, 2026. This timing is the standard daily opening for the general quota across the national network.
The 60-Day Advance Reservation Policy
The upcoming booking window follows the current Advance Reservation Period (ARP) guidelines. Following a significant policy update on November 1, 2024, the booking window for the general quota was reduced from 120 days to 60 days.
While most passengers must follow this 60-day rule, there are specific exceptions to keep in mind:
- Foreign Tourists: They continue to be eligible for a much longer 365-day advance reservation period.
- Daytime Express Services: Certain daytime express services may operate with shorter booking windows than the standard 60 days.
Railway authorities emphasize that strict adherence to these operational timelines is crucial for passengers intending to travel during the high-demand New Year period to ensure successful seat confirmation.
