How will the land be managed and developed?
The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) will handle the commercial development of these plots. The ministry confirmed that land not required for immediate operational needs is handed over to RLDA. Currently, the railway is conducting a survey and verification of these prime properties to ensure proper valuation before leasing them out.
What are the official guidelines and goals?
- Revenue Generation: The primary goal is to create additional financial resources through commercial leasing.
- National Scale: Around 1,308 hectares of railway land have been handed to RLDA across the country for similar projects.
- Policy Support: Under the PM Gati Shakti scheme, land can be leased for up to 35 years at 1.5% of the market value.
- Urban Growth: The project will promote Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and Multi-Modal Transport Hubs (MMTH) near major stations.
