Inclusion of Bihar Railway Stations in Amrit Bharat Yojana

Three railway stations in Bihar—Jhanjharpur, Mokama, and Barhiya—have been included in the Amrit Bharat Scheme, a significant initiative aimed at enhancing railway infrastructure across the country. This inclusion means that these stations will be developed to offer airport-like facilities for passengers, significantly improving their travel experience. The Railway Ministry has formally issued an order to implement these upgrades, indicating a commitment to modernizing the railway system in Bihar.

Local Leaders Express Gratitude

Following the announcement, Union Minister and Munger MP Lalan Singh expressed his gratitude towards Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for approving the inclusion of Mokama and Barhiya stations in the scheme. Singh had previously advocated for these enhancements during a program at Barhiya Railway Station, highlighting the importance of these facilities for local passengers. Similarly, JDU’s working president Sanjay Jha also praised the decision, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on Jhanjharpur’s railway station and its alignment with the area’s cultural heritage.

Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Overview

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, launched by the Railway Ministry in February 2023, aims to transform 1,309 railway stations nationwide into world-class facilities. This initiative focuses on providing passengers with modern amenities, including world-class waiting rooms, free WiFi, and proper seating arrangements. The redevelopment of these stations will showcase local culture and heritage through art and architecture, ensuring that each station reflects the unique identity of its region. The planned upgrades also include essential facilities such as food courts, escalators, and improved signage for passenger convenience.
