What’s inside:

Train passengers in Jharkhand can now travel with added security as CCTV cameras are being installed in trains by Ranchi Rail Division.

Passengers traveling on trains operated by Ranchi Rail Division will now have CCTV cameras for added security. The approval for this initiative has been received from the South-Eastern Railway headquarters. According to DRM Karunanidhi Singh, cameras will be first installed in long-distance trains. The decision to install CCTV cameras in approximately 74,000 coaches and 15,000 locomotives across the country has been taken by the Railway authorities.

The cameras will be installed in areas near doors and common areas with audio capabilities to ensure passenger privacy. The installation of cameras is aimed at curbing mischievous elements, theft, and other crimes. This will also assist the GRP-RPF in their investigations. The modern cameras will provide high-quality footage even at high speeds (more than 100 km/h) and low light conditions.

Each coach will have four cameras near the entrance door, and locomotives will have six cameras installed – two in the front, two at the back, and one on each side. This will enhance surveillance and ensure passenger safety during train journeys.

Recently, a theft case was solved with the help of a CCTV camera in the First AC compartment of Tapaswini Express on December 4. The cameras captured images of two suspects, leading to the arrest of a person in Rourkela with cash and stolen items recovered. The presence of CCTV cameras has proven to be crucial in solving crimes and ensuring the safety of passengers.

With the installation of CCTV cameras in trains, passengers can now travel with more peace of mind, knowing that their safety and security are being prioritized. The initiative aims to deter criminal activities and provide a safer travel experience for everyone on board.

Summary:

  • Passengers in Jharkhand now have CCTV cameras for added security on trains.

  • Cameras installed near doors and common areas to ensure passenger privacy.

  • High-quality footage provided by modern cameras for enhanced surveillance.

  • Recent theft case solved with CCTV camera footage, highlighting the importance of security measures.

  • Initiative aims to provide a safer travel experience for passengers in trains.
