What are the major infrastructure updates planned for Chhapra Junction?
The railway administration is currently working on a massive makeover of Chhapra station, with the project previously estimated at ₹438 crore. During the inspection, DRM Ashish Jain inaugurated a newly constructed Officer Rest House located near the RRI panel. This facility has been built to help officials monitor the station projects more effectively. The team also reviewed the construction progress at the station’s second entry point.
Officials discussed the technical aspects of the redevelopment with the RITES team, who are handling the blueprints. The goal is to transform Chhapra into a world-class station with modern facilities. The DRM gave strict instructions to the engineering team to speed up the work while ensuring that the quality meets the prescribed railway standards. He emphasized that no compromise will be made on the quality of infrastructure.
How is the station preparing for the post-Holi rush?
With a significant surge in passengers expected to return to work after Holi, the railway administration has ramped up its preparations. The DRM reviewed plans for a dedicated Holding Area within the station premises to manage the increasing footfall and prevent overcrowding on the platforms. Instructions were also issued to set up special Passenger Help Desks to assist travelers during peak hours.
Safety remains a top priority during this busy season. The DRM inspected the Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) panel and other safety equipment to ensure zero-error operations. Railway authorities also highlighted that special trains, such as the one from Chhapra to Anand Vihar Terminal, are being operated to handle the seasonal rush comfortably.
