The long wait for a high-speed rail connection between Delhi and Meerut is finally coming to an end. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the complete 82 km Namo Bharat corridor on Sunday, February 22, 2026. With the opening of the final segments, including the key Sarai Kale Khan station in Delhi and the stretch to Modipuram in Meerut, the entire route will become operational. This new service cuts the travel time between the two cities from three hours by road to less than an hour by train.
What are the Ticket Prices and Train Timings?
The Namo Bharat trains will run at an operational speed of 160 kmph, completing the full journey in about 55 to 58 minutes. The service will be available daily from 06:00 AM to 11:00 PM with a train frequency of 10 to 15 minutes. The fare structure is designed to suit different budgets, divided into Standard and Premium classes.
- Standard Class: Fares start at ₹20 for short trips and go up to ₹140–₹150 for the full journey.
- Premium Class: These tickets start at ₹30, with the maximum fare for the entire route costing around ₹210–₹225.
- Meerut Metro: For travel within Meerut city (23 km stretch), local metro fares will apply on the same tracks.
How is the Connectivity and Booking System?
Travelers will find it very easy to switch between different modes of transport at the Sarai Kale Khan station. This massive hub is connected to the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, the Pink Line Metro, and the ISBT via a 280-meter long foot overbridge equipped with travelators. This ensures you do not have to exit the station area to change trains or catch a bus.
For ticketing, passengers do not need to stand in long queues. You can use the ‘RRTS Connect’ app or the ‘DMRC Momentum 2.0’ app to book digital QR tickets. The system supports the ‘One India – One Ticket’ initiative, allowing you to book for both Delhi Metro and RRTS in one go. The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is also accepted for seamless travel.
