Indian Railways has announced a massive plan to manage the heavy rush during the summer season. From April 15 to July 15, 2026, the department will operate more than 18,200 special train trips across the country. This initiative aims to provide confirmed tickets to passengers and ensure a comfortable journey during the peak travel months when demand for seats increases significantly.
How many special trains and trips are planned for this summer?
The Ministry of Railways has approved a total of 908 summer special trains for the current season. Out of these, 660 trains which account for 11,294 trips have already been notified and are now available for booking. Major railway zones like Central Railway, East Central Railway, and North Western Railway are leading the operations. These trains connect major cities and help manage the seasonal crowd during festivals and vacations while reducing the long waiting lists for regular trains.
