How will the ₹500 crore budget be used?
The total allocation of ₹500 crore is approved under ‘Plan Head-64’ for ‘Umbrella Works’ for the year 2026-27. Out of this total amount, ₹30 crore has been specifically allocated to the North Eastern Railway. The Railway Board has already asked General Managers of all zonal railways to submit their proposals for construction and expansion.
Which areas will benefit from this project?
The initiative will cover all railway zones and production units. In the North Eastern Railway, major stations including Gorakhpur and Lucknow will get new TTE rest houses. This will solve the long-standing problem of staff having to stay in old and dilapidated buildings.
