What is the current status of land acquisition?

Out of the total 22,306 square meters of land required, PWD has already transferred 90% to the railway authorities. PWD Executive Engineer Anup Mishra stated that the remaining 10% of land, including some areas near IIT Kanpur and Mandana, will be handed over by May 15. The total budget for land acquisition was reduced to approximately ₹20 crore as most of the land was already under government records.

Project details and key highlights

The project involves building a 15.51 km elevated track with an estimated cost of ₹1115 crore. The Ministry of Railways has already finalized the tender and assigned a private company for construction. A new railway station named after Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be built in front of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, while Rawatpur and Kalyanpur stations will be closed.
