Railway Security Alert: KJF chief threatens to blow up tracks, passengers advised to be cautious

The chief of the banned terrorist organization Khalistan Zindabad Force (KJF), Ranjeet Singh Neeta, has issued a threat to blow up railway tracks across India. This threat comes as a retaliation for the death of Jagroop Singh, a terrorist from Tarn Taran. The KJF has advised passengers to avoid train travel for 10 days starting from May 3, 2026.

Who is Ranjeet Singh Neeta and why the threat

Ranjeet Singh Neeta has been a wanted terrorist since 2008 and is believed to be hiding in Pakistan. He formed the KJF with ISI support to recruit and radicalize Sikhs. Between 1988 and 1999, he was involved in several bomb blasts targeting trains and buses in the Jammu and Pathankot areas. The current threat is linked to Jagroop Singh, who died on April 28, 2026, while attempting to blast a railway track near Shambhu, Patiala.

How is Indian Railways responding to the threat

Security agencies have increased vigilance at railway stations and on tracks. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is conducting daily checks with the help of GRP and local police, especially in Pathankot. To ensure passenger safety, the following measures are in place:

  • Integrated security systems with CCTV surveillance and metal detectors.
  • Baggage scanners and regular mock drills at major stations.
  • Joint patrols by RPF, GRP, and district police.
  • Passengers are encouraged to report suspicious items by calling 139.

Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, CPRO of North Frontier Railway, stated that mock drills and blackout protocols were organized with district administrations to test emergency responses. Varun Sharma, SSP Patiala, confirmed that the suspect Jagroop Singh died during his own attempt to cause an explosion. Additionally, Special DG of Police (Railways) Shashi Prabha Dwivedi noted that CCTV footage showed the suspect parking his motorcycle in Amritsar before the incident.
