The Railway Board has given its in-principle approval for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the proposed New Bhagalpur Station. This project aims to reduce congestion and provide better facilities for rail passengers in the region.
What are the key details of the New Bhagalpur Station project
The new station will be built in Jagdipur, located about 14.40 km away from Bhagalpur Junction. The estimated cost for this modern station is approximately ₹310.45 crore. The Malda Division has already issued the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to Yati Nidhi Construction from Uttar Pradesh for the DPR and yard beautification work.
What high-tech facilities will be available for passengers
The station will be equipped with modern infrastructure to ensure a comfortable journey. The planned facilities include:
- Three modern platforms with advanced technology
- Foot Overbridges (FOB), escalators, and lifts
- Food Plaza and Jan Aushadhi Kendra
- Waiting rooms, ATM, and dedicated parking area
- Quick watering facilities for trains
What is the timeline and additional development plan
The project is expected to be completed by 2028 or 2030. Along with the new station, a double line will be laid from Bhagalpur to Jagdipur, which will be fully electrified. Additionally, the existing Bhagalpur station will be upgraded into a multi-story facility with an estimated cost of ₹481.60 crore.
