New Delhi Railway Station is getting a major tech upgrade to manage crowds and improve security. The railway administration is installing digital access gates that will open only after scanning a QR code. This move aims to stop people without tickets from entering the platforms to drop off relatives, which often leads to congestion.
🚨: Railway Block Update: 13 trains cancelled and 35 diverted due to Prayagraj yard remodelling।
How will the QR code system work at the station?
The system will work like metro station gates. Passengers will need to scan a QR code to enter the platform area. A turnstile digital access gate has already been prepared near Platform Number 9 at the Ajmeri Gate side. This project is being started as a pilot to handle the heavy rush expected during Diwali and Chhath Puja festivals.
What are the other security and facility upgrades?
Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has directed the implementation of AI-based improvements to ensure passenger safety. The station will be equipped with 1500 AI cameras to monitor activity in real-time. Additionally, the overall station complex will expand to six times its current size, featuring twin towers and a seven-fold increase in parking space.
